Claire has worked in Education for over 20 years and has held positions in mainstream schools as Early Years lead, SENDCo, and various senior leadership roles including Executive headteacher in a growing trust.
During her career Claire has coached and mentored staff at various levels in their development from ITT to senior leaders and is actively engaged in content writing and facilitation of the Early Career professional development programmes and National Professional SENDCo Qualifications.
Claire has worked effectively and contributed to professional development provision on behalf of numerous Higher Education Institutions for many years, concentrating on initial teacher training and mentoring. Claire has been instrumental in devising structures and systems with various partner organisations to support and enhance the training experience of early career professionals and has been integral in supporting the ongoing development of teachers in the formative years of their career.
More recently, Claire has completed and been awarded a PGCE in Attachment, trauma and mental health and has been instrumental in supporting leaders in specialist and mainstream settings to develop and embed nurture principles to support the most vulnerable children in school and their families, to enhance the fundamentals of trauma informed practice.
Claire is also an Executive leadership Coach, having been awarded the Level 7 qualification by the Institute of Leadership and Management. She coaches senior-level leaders who want to enhance their personal leadership skills, refine their leadership style and enhance their organisation’s performance in order to ‘be the best that they can be’.
Claire is passionate about supporting professional development at every level and in her lead role with Enterprise Learning Institute has a desire to create CPD opportunities accessible for all.
Darren has worked in the education sector for over 25 years as a teacher, deputy headteacher, headteacher, Local Authority Senior Officer with responsibility for SEND and School Improvement Partner. Darren has worked with the Research School Network delivering improvement programmes for the Education Endowment and worked closely with Doncaster Research School on opportunity area work around improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
Darren has worked with a number of Multi Academy Trusts, developing evidence informed approaches to school improvement and undertaking whole trust reviews around the provision for disadvantaged pupils. Darren is an accredited pupil premium reviewer and has undertaken numerous reviews. In his current role as an Executive Assurance Partner, Darren works with colleagues across the trust to both quality assure provision and to support improvement activities. Darren is responsible for developing evidence informed practice across the trust and is also responsible for overseeing the Nexus professional learning communities.
Emma joined Nexus Trust in September 2023 as an Executive Assurance Partner. Prior to this, she has spent the past 8 years as Executive Headteacher across two Schools in Sheffield. Her background is centred around Mainstream Primary but she is passionate about working with multi agencies to support children with SEND and those at risk of exclusion. Emma feels privileged to support the range of schools across Nexus and the varying needs all our pupils have.
Emma is enthusiastic about school improvement and empowering staff to give children the best education and start to life. Her strengths lie in curriculum development, assessment and personal development. She enjoys working with leaders to develop curriculums that meet the needs of their learners and looking at pedagogy and learning cycles in lessons.
Emma can provide School Improvement support and CPD as well as Quality Assurance and Curriculum Reviews.
Emma is the Mathematics Consultant for the Trust and has significance experience of mathematics teaching in various secondary mainstream schools. She is deeply passionate about the teaching and learning of mathematics, as well as promoting a teaching for mastery approach, both within mainstream and special education settings. She has knowledge and experience in leading mathematics, with a strong interest in data analysis and tracking progress.
Curriculum reviews, guided by evidence-informed principles, have been central to the consultancy work Emma has undertaken, spanning from Engagement and Sensory curriculums through to KS5. This work has involved supporting with curriculum design in mathematics, including the moderation of progression grids in line with both statutory and non-statutory requirements. These include Development Matters, Pre-Key Stage objectives, EYFS Guidance, Early Learning Goals, and National Curriculum objectives. Emma has a wealth of experience conducting pedagogy reviews, assessing and refining teaching practices to enhance educational outcomes.
After graduating with a B.Ed. (Hons), Jacky spent the next 27 happy years working in residential, independent and maintained special schools. Following completion of a PG Dip in Leadership and the NPQH, Jacky has held a number of progressive leadership roles within these schools culminating in Headship, before securing her role as Assistant CEO at Nexus MAT.
Jacky has always sought to ensure that every pupil is equipped with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be successful learners, confident individuals and to lead their life as independently as possible; and is passionate about ensuring that staff have the training, skills and knowledge to enable this. Jacky has delivered numerous CPD programmes around SEND strategies, pedagogy and leadership locally and regionally and is an accredited SEND and Pupil Premium reviewer.
Joanne is a qualified teacher, with a Bachelor of Education degree and has completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship. She has worked as a school leader in both medium and large primary schools and has extensive experience leading and supporting primary and special schools; including those in special measures.
She is currently an executive leader in a large multi-academy trust with a focus on quality assurance and school improvement. Joanne has a particular expertise and interest in safeguarding, supporting disadvantaged pupils and science.
Jonathan has worked in the education sector for over 25 years as a primary teacher, deputy headteacher, headteacher and Local Authority Senior Officer. He has gained a range of experience in school improvement locally and regionally and has been a constant advocate of inclusion and equity throughout his career.
He has led an ‘outstanding’ school and has had the privilege of supporting schools facing challenging circumstances. Jonathan has particular expertise and understanding of evidence informed implementation and has worked closely with the Education Endowment Foundation to support policy and practice.
Through his wider roles across the North East, Yorkshire and Humber region, Jonathan has gained a good understanding of the expectations, challenges and opportunities which Trusts, schools and their leaders are afforded in the current educational climate. Jonathan has a very good working knowledge of the current Education Inspection Framework as a senior leader and system collaborator.
Leanne has worked in education for 25 years. 15 years in Secondary Mainstream schools, 8 years in Alternative Provision, and 1 year in a Special School, she now works with schools with the SEMH special sector within Nexus, in commissioned AP and mainstream SEMH support and is the Executive Lead for Hubs across the trust.
Her passion for the children who don't quite fit the mainstream or specialist mould was compounded as Head of a busy Pupil Referral Unit, she is an advocate for any practice which is routed in positive relationships, be that trauma informed practices, attachment, nurture principles, ACES and considers SEMH graduated response and the continuum of provision central to all support she can give to organisations and families.
Michelle has worked in both mainstream and specialist education for over 18 years as a teacher and in leadership roles. Her passion for enabling all students to access an inclusive and engaging English curriculum is now the primary focus of her role as Early Reading and Phonics Consultant for Nexus MAT. She combines this with her other educational passion of Early Years to help improve provision across schools in both specialist and mainstream education.
Becky has significant experience in teaching and leading within the primary sector and has been both a headteacher and an executive headteacher in recent years. She has held a number of leadership roles whilst teaching, including specialising in English, curriculum development and assessment and data practices.
Developing curriculum and pedagogy in line with evidence informed principles has been core to the leadership work which Becky has undertaken.
This work has included restructuring the curriculum in all subject areas across the EYFS and KS1 and 2 programmes of study and delivering relevant CPD for staff at all levels. Supporting staff to improve is something which Becky is passionate about and she has a strong track record of positive outcomes in this area. She is currently undertaking work as a tutor, delivering the Level 3 Apprenticeship programme.
Becky works in the central team at Nexus as part of the Quality Assurance and Improvement team.
Lucy has a range of experience supporting ECTs and mentors through the Early Career Professional Development Programme in addition to working with a range of Delivery Partners and Lead Providers to support this National programme. Alongside this she has experience of working with National Appropriate Body’s to ensure compliant and consistent approaches to the statutory induction period.
In Lucy’s current role, as senior administrator for Enterprise Learning Institute, she supports the effective provision of a range of Learning Institute professional development courses.
This includes facilitator support, programme & venue organisation and participant management. Lucy also provides administrative support for the Level 3 TA Apprenticeship Programme and the Early Years Apprenticeship Programme in Nexus Multi Academy Trust.
