Learning together to be the best we can be.
Ofsted inspection and external review currently remain an inevitable and challenging part of leading and working in schools. At its best, Ofsted and its inspections contribute positively to raising standards. The Ofsted inspection handbook and framework remains a very helpful and transparent reference point which can help leaders to understand the principles of best practice in many aspects of their work.
Ofsted are very clear that there is no expectation for schools to prepare for inspection. We know that this is easier said than done; every school wants its inspection to be successful and to recognise the difference it is making to the pupils it serves.
It is with this in mind that we aim to support our schools as part of their on-going school improvement journey rather than simply for an inspection itself. Using readily available documents and a range of sector insights from experienced and like-minded professionals, we’ll focus on understanding the inspection process, busting myths and unpacking what this means for leaders as they narrate what their school does well, the actions it is taking to improve and the impact of these actions.
The outcome of this support will be a continued focus on school improvement, in the best interests of our young people, not necessarily Ofsted. Crucially, leaders at all levels will further develop their confident and candid view of their school and how they can use this information during external review, including Ofsted inspections.
